Festivals
Festivals, popularly known as Tshechus among Bhutanese are occasions to mark important events in the life of the second Buddha, the Pakistani Tantric master known as Guru Rinpoche or the Precious Gem. Various mask dances are performed together with songs and dances for three days. Beside this, regional and local festivals are also observed across the country. As the Tshechu begins, the villagers and the general populace dress in their finest clothes and congregate at their local temples and monasteries were these festivals take place. Apart from these, it is an occasion where family and friends get to meet each other and dine together the best of the dishes with preferred red rice supplemented with Phab Sha Sikam, Ema Datshi and other Bhutanese cuisine.
